Commercial Rubber

Rubber flooring is made of recycled rubber (generally obtained from used tires) and may be black, colored or variegated. It is the flooring of choice for outdoor applications, but can also be used indoors if properly re-manufactured to reduce emissions and indoor air pollutants. Rubber flooring is the ultimate product for those concentrating on recycling as a way to ’go green’ ; every year, three million tires end up in landfills, so supporters of recycled rubber flooring are preventing slow degrading waste from taking up valuable space.

Uses for Commercial Rubber

Commercially, rubber flooring has been integrated into gyms, ball courts, weight rooms, health clubs, schools, community centers, workout areas, health care facilities and many other places where a durable, non-skid flooring application is needed.

Advantages of Commercial Rubber Flooring

Rubber flooring can vary widely in price depending on the style and application; rolls allow large areas to be covered quickly and easily and can be glued down or left free-floating, using adhesive to join any seams. Rubber tiles can be interlocked with clips or bonded to concrete with powerful adhesive to form a permanent floor. Rubber is superior to linoleum or vinyl for use outdoors due to its higher resistance to the elements, but colored rubber will eventually fade in the sun

Things to Consider When Purchasing Commercial Rubber Flooring

When evaluating rubber flooring applications, consider if you need a permanent or temporary solution. Once rubber is glued down it will be almost impossible to remove. Free-floating interlocking tiles can be rolled up and set aside, making them a good choice for use as practice areas for dance, martial arts or exercise. Remember, if you choose to install rubber flooring indoors, make sure it is manufactured for indoor use to avoid VOC/heavy metal emissions and possible air pollution.
