Commercial Carpet

Carpet is the ideal flooring option for nearly any room. The varieties now available range from looped, footprint-proof Berber to plush, luxurious cut pile carpeting in every color imaginable. Frieze carpeting is composed of tightly twisted strands that produce a crinkled effect and provide extra durability. Carpet can be made from different materials, with nylon accounting for nearly 70% of carpet on the market. Wool is more expensive, but remains in demand for high end office buildings.

Uses for Commercial Carpet

Versatility makes carpet the floor covering of choice for hotels, office space, and upscale retail stores. Berber carpet is used more frequently in commercial applications. Patterns and designs can be custom ordered to perfectly accent your office décor, and installation done over even imperfect surfaces.

Advantages of Commercial Carpet

Carpet has a distinct advantage in certain situations. In office situations, it dampens sound and provides a pleasant environment, and doctor or dentist offices use it in reception areas where a comforting ambiance is preferred. Durable and cleanable, carpet is a common choice for apartments and other rental properties.

Things to Consider When Purchasing Commercial Carpet

Deciding on whether or not to use carpet in a particular setting should include taking several factors into account, including what kind of foundation or sub-floor is in place. Carpet is most easily installed over a concrete slab or a wooden sub-floor. Pad type and thickness can be selected for the best cushioning, or to enhance soundproofing capabilities (good for second story applications). Moisture barriers can be used to reduce the chance of mildew or rot in basements or garages. Carpet isn’t the best choice for overly humid areas, such as screened in porches in coastal climates, or bathrooms where adequate ventilation is unavailable. If carpet isn’t the best choice, other flooring options such as tile, hardwood or linoleum may be preferable.
